  • Probably. You probably won't have to keep it as long as a minor would, or go through the graduated system, if your state uses that. When I took my test in Ohio, and when my oldest step son took it here in West Virginia, the permit test was actually the written part of the drivers license test, and then the driving course was the other half to get your regular license. So you had to take both. But in Ohio (this was 14 years ago, and I was 19) there was no waiting period between the tests, you could take both the same day. What state do you live in? Most states have a Department or Bureau of Motor Vehicles website with the rules or a driving manual posted.
  • I got my license a few months shy of 20, and I had to get a permit. This was 20 years ago, so maybe things changed, but likely not.
  • Yes. You just dont have to take Drivers Ed... that is only for high schoolers who are under 18
  • You need to take the test that gets you a permit so technically it's not the permit you need. So take the test, get the permit. And if you know how to drive, take the next written test and drivers test and get it all in one day.
