Don't know of any later body armour developments, but I have to ask you: when was the last time in modern combat anyone waged a battle or attacked with farm tools???

To IntotheForge: That is a valid question and yes it is a valid concern. Here is a link that describes a liquid used in conjunction with standard Kevlar that will stop edged, spike or bladed weapons. To Knotcrafter: In my experience just because someone is trained in something doesn't mean that they are either proficient in its use or mentally willing to employ that training. IntotheForge's question is a valid one and is a valid concern. I can only assume that your experience is minimal at best. Because the last time a battle was fought against people with gardening tools would probably be yesterday. And modified (homemade) cutting and stabbing weapons are items that prison security are constantly combating. This new technology would safe hundreds of lives just in that capacity.
