Yes. In retrospect, a very bad idea.
-
Yes! I used to pretend smoke it, mimicking the way adults in my life smoked the real ones. How disturbing!
-
yuuum! sweet! delicious! i felt just like a grown-up smoker!
-
Yes I do and used to eat a lot of them, but I still hate real cigarettes and will still forever be a non-smoker.
-
Yes I sure do
-
Yes.
-
Yes! my sister and I used to love them! we actually pretended to "smoke" them! so not "PC" right? bet you won't find those on the candy shelves these days...
-
I remember both. One was a hard candy and the other was a gum stick that you could blow and white powder would come out.
-
Yeah, I loved them. Do you know there is a candy store in York Beach, Maine that still sells them? My granddaughter asked me to buy them for her. I did:( I told her she could eat them, not to look like she was smoking them. She did:)
-
Oh yes. The bitter ones you could unravel like real cigarettes and the hard candy ones with a little red food colouring at one end to look like they were alight. I also remember liquorice pipes - huge black monstrosities like something Sherlock Holmes would smoke, with little 'hundreds n thousands' on the pipe end to look like embers. Good grief!
-
What a bad idea, huh? LOL, why not just hand us a pack and say "light up." =P
-
Yes they used to call them Fags in Australia and now they are called FADS. They are totally yummy !!
-
Oh! HaHa! Yup, I sure do. That's been a while!
-
yep. They're 10 cents a pack at the store down the street
-
yeah, I remember those, then they made gum cigarettes, the pink gum was long and round covered with white paper and a brown filter, remember those?
-
Yes I do, I never liked them much but used to buy them anyway.
-
Sure do! I remember the white hard candy ones, the chocolate ones, and the licorce cigars with candy beaded tips.
-
I do. Even those tasted funny to me! I guess I was never going to be a smoker!
-
yeah... i remember them... i think i tried a real cigarette before a candy one though... when i was about 4 or 5 i found a half smoked butt in a friends garage and had just discovered the wonder of matches... i lit it and inhaled... coughed my head off for a good minute and did not smoke again until about 7th grade
-
I bought a pack of powdered candy cigarettes and got in trouble when I brought them home. Apparently my father didn't like me playing such things. hahaha
-
Yeah I used to buy those.
-
They where the best!!! I would get them all the time!!!! I am surprised I never smoked a real cigarette!!!
-
I remember Candy Samples as a teenager, too.
-
Yeah. Those were a blast.
-
Yeah ! They were sweet!
-
Oh yeah! I remember all those "penny" candies. I used to stop at the neighborhood Woolworth's on my way home from grade school and buy a pack. Hm, I wonder if that's what gave me the bug to start smoking the REAL thing?!?!? Just for the record: I did quit smoking the real ones 10 1/2 yrs. ago! :)
-
Yes I do oh my god they where horrible lucky I never started on the real things :)
-
yeah I don't think they let you sell them anymore
-
Oh God, those tasted nasty! I remember them. I also recall that they came in a bubble gum and this kind of chalky candy variety. Bleghhh.
-
They are for kids? I still buy them...DAMN!!...thanks for filling me in...;)
-
Yes the pola peppermint flavor.I used to pretend to smoke as adult before taking it.
-
yesssssssss, my mom never let me buy them because she sayed she did not want me to be a smoker, because that candy will influence me to smoke some day. so I just gave my money to my friends and tehy buy it four me , jiji
-
Of course I do, and I have some right now. They're so freakin' good!
-
I remember them. I'd hold one like I was smoking it until I just HAD to eat it.
-
I remember them being around now, they taste like chalk.
-
Yes. and sweet tobacco and they didn't make me go on to real cigarettes later
-
yea it had either chocolate or bubble gum.
-
They still are around but I can't remember what they're called...candy sticks or something like that. I used to love them. I'd pretend that I was smoking. Then again, I used to pick up my Grandpa's old cigarettes from his ashtray and pretend to smoke those, too.
-
Oh, yes, we thought we were big shots with them. Funny when I got older and could smoke for real, I didnt like it.
-
yes, the ones we had were white and they were this kind of dried marshmallow type material, like the charms in Lucky Charms cereal. GROSS! I loved them as a kid, would not like them now.
-
YES=BOTH CHOCOLATE AND PINK CANDY
-
yep and I smoked mine while the adults smoked theirs.
-
Yes of course! those were glorious. And when I was a kid those made me feel grown-up hahaha. Those have been the only cigarettes I've ever tried and I'm glad hehe. The chocolate ones...
-
Weren't they the greatest? There were three kinds, the mint-white-sugar ones that you had to break apart, and then similar ones that were already separated, and then gum ones. Also gum cigars.
-
yeah but my mom didn't let me have any!! and i never got to try them. were they like gum or something?
-
Yeah! I remeber eating them when I would wait for the school bus in middle school, and the kids thought I was really smoking. Hahaha... stupid kids.
-
Just briefly.. Havn't seen them in years. My mum remembers them from 40years ago and they were available again when I was a kid 15 years ago.
-
I actually do remember those things LOL! To think we now have a serious anti-smoking campaign on our hands and at one time those things were handed out as candy. Good thing it never turned into real cigarettes!
-
And they had a little pink tip on one end to make it look like it was lit. Not fooling anyone there.
-
I'm 70...so, sure I do. The only way I seem to be able to get 'em now is by ordering them on-line from the indian reservation! :-)
-
Yes..I thought they were cool!!
-
yes but i wouldnt eat them now ,i buy them for my daiughter.
-
Sure, little white sugar sticks with a red tip.
-
Ah, yes. I got them often because I wanted to be just like my daddy. By the time I was old enough to smoke, though, I had determined I could be like my daddy in other ways. I never have smoked.
-
oh yeah, I really liked them. I thought I was cool, acting like I was smoking!!! hahaha
-
I used to ask for them all the time. I used to think smoking was something to aspire to. I was like..."I can't wait until I'm older so I can smoke a real cigarette but for now, I'll just pretend". How screwed up is that?!?! I only used to buy them for that purpose.
-
Yes and we use ot pretend to smoke them. They were so good.
-
I remember both types of candy cigarettes. Liked the gum ones the best, especially the puff of "smoke". I've seen both types of some vintage candy websites, but wow.......really expensive.
-
Yes! And from my experience I'm wondering if there's a negative correlation between having them & smoking.
-
Loved the bubble gum ones !
-
Yes I do! They would be considered 'politically incorrect' today.
-
yes! they are so addicting and yummy! I am not a smoker but I wouldn't mind having a candy ciggartte!
-
Yes and I can't believe they still have them.
-
Yes and they still make them. They hide them in little spiderman and hulk boxes now and they call them candy sticks now. They still sell ones that have the little red dot at the end and come in boxes that are made to look like Marlboro and Winston boxes. You cant find them everywhere, but they are usually in small convenience stores. I let my kids have the candy stick ones, but have a hard time justifying the candy cigarette ones. They are tasty tho!
-
Yes, but I never pretended to smoke them. I just nibbled them right down.
-
Ya we always had them but I think the world is too proper for them today
-
I loved candy ciggarettes! Now I love real cigarettes!
-
haha yeah, my mom would never let me have them. she said they would give me cancer :P
-

-

-
Yes, we had the hard candy ones and chocolate ones. We still get them here.
-
LoL yeah... those things were awsome... teaching kids deadly bad habits... priceless...
-
Yes. DECADES ago. I remember them being stupid then too.
-
A lot of kids I knew thought they were the coolest and would try to mimic Adults. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/candy-cigarettes.htm
-

-

-
I remember chocolate ones that came individually wrapped in an amber plastic case and the sugar stick ones in the paperboard boxes. I also remember bubble gum cigars.
