Help answer this question below.

I want to major in criminal justice, criminology to be specific i wanted to know if any one knew anything about this major, also i wanted to know if you had to serve on the force before you can pursure a career in this feild.

    police studies and criminology are 2 different fields. you do not have to serve on the force to be a criminologist. criminal psychology is kinda the same as what you want to do. the field is very interesting and you can get a 4 year bachelor of science to get a good job.

    I'm a police officer in central florida and i have a 2 year associates degree in criminal justice. I think you might be confused. A cop, and a Criminologist are two different things. Most cops know nothing about criminology, and a criminologist knows nothing about being a cop. Cops report and solve crimes while a criminologist studies criminal behavior. It kind of sounds the same but believe me they are very different. And, no you do not have to be on the force to become a criminologist. Good luck..

    You do not have to serve as a police officer to be involved in criminal justice!!! You can be a parole/probation officer, prison warden,and numerous other things!!!
