  • Because in order to be full, the Moon has to be on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. And the only time you'll see the Moon when it's on the opposite side of the Earth is at night.
  • The only other reason you can't see the moon during the day is because the light from the sun eliminates the sky brighter than it does reflecting off the moon. Ever notice how sometimes you can see the moon before sunset? That's because the sun's light is getting dimmer as it goes over the horizon but hasn't completely gone out, and is just bright enough to still light up the sky but not so bright that it blocks out the light reflecting off the moon.
  • the earth blocks the sunlight??? seems to me like you can... i have seen a half moon just as bright in the day time...
  • The light we see from the moon is reflected from the sun. One side of the moon is always completely lit (except during lunar eclipses). We see a % of this lit surface depending on the position of the moon. The only time we are able to see all of the moon is when it is positioned on the opposite side of the earth to that of the sun, thus not being visible to the side of the earth which is currently in daylight.
