  • Not in a very long time, and the gas needle was busted. LOL. That is the first thing I look at, when I start the car. *rolls eyes* Maybe she hoped she could make to work and make without having to stop for gas, that is what I find to peoples issue, when they run out of gas, lazyness.
  • Your right, that is what the gauge is for. I have never run out in my life. I found that trying to keep it as full as possible saves more gas because the fuel will splash on the walls of the tank and evaporate when the tank is low. less evaporation the more usable gas is left.
  • I think so but it was so far back I don't specifically remember the incident. I've cut it pretty close though on many, many occasions.
  • Yes I have...I know there's a gauge..what can I say I like to live on the edge...lol
  • Yes, my husband and I ran out of gas driving down out of Lassen National Park. We asked the ranger at the entrance hut, where was the closest gas station and he said that it was to the left, but that the one on the right was all down hill even though it was further. LOL!!! We went right because we were already out of gas and coasting LOL!!! The gauge doesn't help to much when you go way into an area expecting to find a gas station and the only one is closed for the season. So you do what you can.
  • No, not once in about 30 years of driving. I guess your only possible excuse would be if your gauge were broken, but then you should get it fixed and make allowances for it by topping up with fuel more often, to be on the safe side. So, no excuses then after all!
  • Yes. I have run out of gas twice. When I was younger I drove a 1977 Chevy Nova, and the gauge had a mind of its own. One time I ran out of gas and it said I had about 1/8 of a tank remaining. Another time it said I had about 1/4. Luckily I have AAA and wasn't out in the middle of nowhere. The gauge has since been fixed, although the car hasn't been started but once in three years.
  • I am ashamed to say that I have run out of gas more than once. I have legitimate excuses however: 1. I am male. 2. I am a procrastinator. 3. I hate detail work. 4. I am always in a hurry. On the upside, I have learned the discipline of watching the gauge and it does not happen often and has not happened in the last few years.
