I was laid off from my job My H and I are divorcing He is only giving me enough money to pay the mortgage Do I HAVE to pay the mortgage with this money I have other bills and need food for the kids He is making money off the books and not giving me any

    People do what they have to do. No human being is going to pay the mortgage when there is food needed in the tummies of their children. I am a divorce lawyer and have many MANY times seen houses go under in this situation. You should get thee to court and ask for more money. Most court houses have family law "facilitators." If you haven't the $ to hire a lawyer, ask a facilitator to tell you what papers to fill out to request more money from your husband. Some counties have pro bono family law attorneys. Call the local bar association to see if there are any pro bono (free in Latin) family law attorneys available to assist you or if there is a legal clinic in your area where a supervised law school student could help you, since this is a very simple, paper-filling-out sort of problem.
