  • Incarnation is when a pre-existing soul enters a body. This is not taught by Christianity except in the case of Jesus Christ, who existed since before the beginning of time but wasn't called Jesus until he was conceived. The word means "going into the flesh." I think that Mormons may teach the incarnation of pre-created souls into human bodies at the time of conception. Re-incarnation means "going back into the flesh" and is a Hindu and Buddhist doctrine that says when one person dies, the soul with its accumulated merits or demerits goes into a new body. The purpose is to do enough meritorious deeds that you no longer need to be reborn.
