Well, I would say that we aren't THAT close. One guy paying to go into space doesn't really count. Now, having a tour shuttle taking several people into space, that would count.

I have two tickets to the Moon if any one wants to barter. lol Just Kidding!!! There has to be a place for tourists to go, you know for bathrooms, space food and something/someway to see the sights. We have a way to go before that happens.

The promise of big dollar markets for public space travel remains front and center. A study done by a think tank a few years ago underscored that fact. It reported that the overall space tourism markets could generate revenues in excess of a billion dollars per year in about a decade-and-a-half from now. A big chunk of that cash is expected to come from suborbital space tourism. So who knows.

It has already begun and is open just to the uber-rich right now but as more private companies start competing, the prices will fall and it will open up to the middle classes.
