Yes a lot more could have been done and less people would be practically homeless. It seems the FBI did what it was allowed and then it all was "cold case".

I'm sure that could have helped, but the main cause of the mortgage crisis had more to do with the irresponsible practices of lending companies, and even if the Bush administration hadn't gone so far as to get us into a war, do you really think they'd have stepped on the toes of the bankers?
