What method would you recommend for browning a roast in a Visions glass pot before slow cooking?

You should be able to broil it. IIRC, Visions is a type of Pyrex cookware, which is designed to take high heat applications.

I'd put it on a cookie sheet and broil it for 15 mins or so, then transfer it to the visions.

I've not cooked with Visions before. I've always braised my roasts coated with some flour and pepper in a little oil in my dutch oven before putting it in my crock pot. That's the way my mom and grandmother always did it. Do Visions pots/pans heat up faster?
