Actually, I will say "from: <link>" and copy-and-paste the paragraph or two with the info in it in quotes underneath... So Option 2 for me, at least MOST of the time. ;-)

It would be better to give a link, because in most Wiki articles there are links for extended information if you're interested. It's a lot more convenient for the person who wants to see or learn more.

If it is a short reply I will type it and put the source. If it is a long article I will make a very short precis and then add the link

Many times, I will copy, paste and edit the source information, so that my answer is brief, but a legitimate answer, and then I'll link it to the extra info, in case the asker desires more information.
