How can I tell if a plant is safe enough for cats? I have one that I want to put on the floor, but I want to make sure its a safe enough that if the cats eat it, they won't get sick. I have no idea what kind of plant it is.

    well to me your plant looks like #55 in this pic, which would make is a Aspidistra Elatior. Which wasn't on any of the lists I saw.

    If you don't know what type of plant it is, you'll just have to risk it. Even if you put it on the counter, the cat can still get to it. If it's not a flowering plant, it should be safe.

    Maybe post a picture to the site and someone can identify the plant for you. Then you, or someone here can tell you if it's dangerous.

    The only other way to tell is by trial, but it could cost you a cat.
