1994 safari van, idles fine but when I give it gas engine backfires and stalls while driving. help?

    have your catlitic converter checked they melt down over time causing back presure

    Could be EGR, valve advance/clearance/sticking/bad return springs.. need more information.

    got to thinking if exhaust is smelling of raw fuel i would suspect that a part called a fuel spider inside of intake is bad but first pull off dist. cap and check shaft for side play and extreme build up of brown rusty substance

    replace distributor have found several times that hall effect sensor has gone bad and or shaft inside of distributor is worn and moving from side to side
