Well it sounds like its hit the bed. You can send it in and get it repaired from SONY and it won't cost nearly as much as a new one. You can call them at 1-800-345-7669, and talk to somebody there. It sounds like this one it may have been dropped. Try taking care of your next one as if it were your child. Good luck. edit: Try making sure the disk is clean and think if you have ever dropped the system or got it wet in the past. My best advice is to call SONY at the number above. Its a free easy call that might solve your problem. Does your PS2 turn on at all or just not read any CD?

I have the same problem. I HAVE dropped my ps2 though (I was carrying it on top of the xbox and it slid right off the uneven surface and hit the hardwood floor at from about 4 feet up). So now when I put in a disc, it won't read it at all, and won't even spin. I was wondering if I could fix it by replacing the laser with this replacement. Or would I be better off calling Sony and sending it in. Also, about how much would that cost?
