It all depends. In order to save money a lot of Forces have allowed officers to buy their own weapon. Old timers still like to carry the .38 6 shot revolver The 9MM Semi-automatic has become very popular With most forces.
I think most of them get their choice of approved weapons. So it varies.
Most use glock 19s 9 mm. Some use berretta 92fs 9mm. Glock represents 90 percent of police duty weapons. Most jurisdictions give the officers an allowance to buy an approved weapon. They still buy glocks. What does that tell u about glocks. I own 2.
Pistol
Most U.S. police use a 9mm or .40 cal. cause it has the most ammo capacity, but some sop still prefer .45 cal and .38's. As far as brands depend on state, station or personal preference
Rifles
S.W.A.T. uses .308 for sniper apps. (Remington model 700 is a favorite). The M4 and MP5's are used as their main assualt wepons
Glocks and Tasers.
Alot of them use glocks 45 or then some pea shooters
Usually a glock. or the 9mm semiautomatic m9 or beretta or something similar.
