  • usually the newer b&g engines have a magneto but if your engine has a point/condensor ignition then you need to put the crankshaft to tdc on cyl #1 and set the points to the manufaturers setting for that engine. Turn the engine back a fiew degree's and then slowely turn it watching the timing marks on the crankshaft that usually line up with a peg on the flat of the crankcase(check the book to the engine)and at this moment the points should open( use a dwell meter). when the points open at this moment the spark plug fires and the engine timing is optimized. the beauty of this is it starts and runs fantastic. good luck!
