If someone is being on the quiet side, why do people always ask if the person is bored, or think the person is not having fun?

There isn't much else to do in a social setting other than to interract, so, if someone isn't doing that, they are looked at as doing basically nothing which leads people to believe they must be bored and not having a good time.

Some people believe that if you aren't doing what they are doing, then you can't be having fun.

Misreading the behavior. Falsely assuming that constantly talking is communicating. Insecurity. Eh, mostly just the general misreading what someone else feels and why.

If I'm being quiet I'm usually pretty bored. I have a "friend" who is constantly just sitting looking pissed off and if you say anything to her about it she goes off on you like you just said "fuck you whore slut" to her or something

because they always think they are depressed. People just don't like to talk. It is cubersome to them. I know how they feel. I sometimes run into some stupid people who have no common sense. However I am thankful that the majority of them have the intelligence to see the truth hence making conversations all the more enjoyable.... if I can respond. weeeeeeeee

I would guess that they're insecure or worried.

People are not comfortable with silence. Silence creates mystery and they're afraid of the unknown. It's fear.
