Duped with what? PROZAC or LSD? My 2 cents.

Who's to say YOU understand these things? In fact, as you are human and by nature fallible and imperfect, you can't possibly understand these things, at least not perfectly and completely; as such, you aren't really in a position to judge another's understanding as incorrect, are you? I think you could use a lesson in humility. That's my first answer. My second answer is: Yes, they are duped by their teachers. I mean, the Bible hardly emphasizes the role and significance of Mary as it is. There is a handful of early Christian writings which do, but none of them were included in the canon. In fact I think it would be rather difficult for a Bible-believing Christian, schooled in traditional catechism or hermeneutics, to develop the understanding of Mary's significance you speak of.

I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to make with your comments. You don't need to proselytize me: I'm very much a believer in Mary's significance. Are you trying to demonstrate that, as opposed to what I wrote, the NT does emphasize Mary's significance? Well, you can find all the examples of Mary's role that you want, I still believe the overall tone and theological bent of the Bible massively emphasizes masculine authority to the exclusion (or very very near exclusion) of female authority, and any bible-reading Christian would have to go out of their way to develop any deeper understanding of Mary.
