  • Sit with who you feel comfotable with...let me let you in on a little secret. I work at a telecommunications company where I manage a prepaid wireless client "dbs communications" www.dbsnow.com. If I were to go on a trip with some of my employees I would rather be by myself. The truth is I hate the majority of them.
  • I think this isn't something you should worry about. As a boss, if he wants companionship with his employees he will probably seek it out himself. If he doesn't, it may be that he wants time to himself, or doesn't feel that fraternizing with the staff is appropriate. It really depends on the type of relationship you have with your boss though; at my company, our whole department gets along really well with our boss so, none of us would think twice about sitting with her, or wonder why somebody else was. If you have to wonder though, it may be best to leave it be. You don't want your peers or your boss thinking you're a brown noser.
