  • China's gymnasts start at 3. But they do not have the laws that we do to protect children.
  • It is perfect while it is still like a game they just tumble around and help keep them supple 3/4 is a good age.
  • There is a very good organization called Gym n Me that helps mothers and children interact on play toys, that can easily lead to gymnastics. If the child shows an interest in physical activity at an early age, by all means encourage it.
  • When i was 4, i joined dance, which included gymnastics. i loved it! they taught ballet, tap, and some gymnastics as well. plus you get recitals to perform at. It's a fine age to start
  • That is not too young. Where I go, there are 1 year olds who do gymnastics but they just learn the basics like rolls.
  • I started at 2 or 3. It is fine, at that age they do mostly stretching, rolling and some dancing.
  • oh let her please. I got into gymnastics at that age and I loved it so much. I moved to a new town in second grade and had to stop because they didn't offer it and I was so upset. :(
  • start her now. they do alot of streching and basic tumbuling(like rolls and cartwheels). they also help build muscles and the coache4s are very interactive. it is alot of fun for kids. it is a gtreat age to start them if you want them to have a future in gymnastics.
  • I would definately agree that 4 is exactly the right age to start. However, please make sure you choose a good gym - look for a 'gymmark' qualification in the UK or similar recognitions of child protection and safety elsewhere. Ask if you can watch a session of the group your daughter would join and look to see if the coach is rude or puts down the girls. Gymnastics is a great sport and your daughter could come to get a lot out of it.
  • i believe that most places will allow kids 4 prob even younger. the sooner you get her started the better.
  • That's not a bad age. I doubt they'd try her on anything to fancy at that age. I was in a class like that about 3-4. I don't really remember it since I didn't stay in long. (Which was more because my legs would ache too much, something I've always had.)
  • my little sister was 3 when she started she is 10 now and she has won state in her class 2 times
  • The sooner the better I guess.
  • It is best to start them when they are younger. i suppose the best age is when they are around 3 as their joints are more supple and they are more flexible. Also they will enjoy it more and will keep it going for a longer period of time.
  • 4 is the perfect age because she will still be really flexible so it will be easier for her to get into it. I started gym when i was 4 and i still love it x
