Not to be flip, but I believe it is most important to pay attantion to what you are paying attention to. No matter what you want out of life, it is far too easy to become distracted by fear and other minutia. I think it is important to notice when you are being sidetracked by your own thought.

The way we treat other people. Are you kind-hearted? Do you deal with people fairly? Are you understanding when your friends and the people you love need a break? How about people you meet once in this life and never see again? The kindness of strangers is a miracle, really, when it's the only kindness someone sees. We make a bigger impression on people than we know - not all the time, of course, but enough to pay attention. ~~~~~~ Ironic, isn't it? The Lone Rater strikes again and this time, it's funny, considering the Q and my A. People never stop with the small-minded stuff, do they? To whoever rated this down - First, forget ratings. Ratings are far less important than the damage you inflict upon other people and yourself every time you act in a manner designed to hurt someone else. If you routinely deal with your unhappiness by spreading it around, your life will suck, and it will suck in a major way. And for what? If you're going after me personally, you're wasting your time. I guarantee I'll forget about this 60 seconds after I hit "Update" and close the page. Been there, done that. Six months ago, my response would have been to verbally rip your head open. Now? You're a nuisance. What does disturb me is your slamming the opinion-type answers of other users. Your valuation of someone's POV is less important than you believe. And you do know what happens, right? People notice the unfair rating(s) and award the answer(s)a bunch of 100%'s. You generally achieve the opposite of your goal. What a payoff. Do I feel better now? I wish I did. If you'd take the message to heart and stop trying to hurt people, yes, I'd feel better. You're treating people unfairly. It's hard enough to bare your soul on the internet to strangers. It's worse when anonymous slammers enjoy causing unhappiness and bitter feelings. I'll never get used to seeing careless people like you level someone's self-esteem without a second thought.

To me, something that I think is important in life to pay attention to is your family. Family is so very important to me. If something happened and I was left alone, although I may have friends, without family I truly don't think I could cope. Family has always been a big part of my life. They have been my support system through some terrible rough times and I try, at any opportunity, to repay that support.

APPRECIATION of everything that comes my way and what the lesson is that I might learn from it! To live so that I leave something of value by my actions. To have been worthy of trust, of friendships, to have those who loved me miss me, but be happy for my new life, and those who hardly knew me, be sorry they wouldn't know me better! <wink> To hear more laughter from my creator than the sound of tears for my behaviors and choices. If I pay attention to the things that would create this upon my leaving this life, maybe I've done an ok job of living.

Pay attention to everything, espcially your driving - and by that, I suggest that driving is a metaphor for life. We scan the fan by viewing what is before us and around us contantly. We pay attention to the health of our vehicle, to our energy supply and reserves, to where we can refuel, to our own stamina and alertness, to the rear-view mirror and to what is happening in the back seat. In liufe, we must multi-task with our attention and always be alert. The world needs more lerts <s>.
