Be Cool. Don't Panic. Use your head.
-
Think before, I react.

In some situations, It can be very hard not to laugh for me. I used to go to a rather rough camp, and it was hard to keep a straight face sometimes because you were scared. It can lighten up your mood, but usually doesn't turn out so well, like in this video. It is of an interview, and with some emotions running around the man doing the interview cannot help but laugh.

I become very still...I don't move to much and I just focus
-
I become stiff and sweaty. I try to find a way out by for instance excusing my self for a moment out of the room so I can have a time out to think and then I can act appropriately.
-
I make sure I take very deep breaths and focus hard on remaining calm. The worst thing to do is get angry or cause yourself to overreact.

To me it is usually when someone has said something stupid, and no ne knows what to say. So I start giving people shifty looks. They get more and more flamboyant and over the top until someone can't resist and laughs. Breaks the tension quite nicely!
-
I'm completely rubbish in tense situations, I just tend to freak out and get the hell outta there!
-
I try to point out something humorous. A good laugh is what usually cures tension. When my boss gets a little nuts and starting ranting and raving.. I will join him and say something really crazy and off the wall. He will be busy processing the wacky comment that he just heard that his tirade will end. Case in point, someone came into the shop and left filthy spots on the carpeting and he wanted his associate and me to chase people with dirty shoes out. Naturally, his associate said that she could not do that to customers. I examined the stains and said "Yikes, not grease, not mud, looks like a deer when through a swamp and then left hoof prints all over." Not expecting that, he thought about the visual and the discussion was over...for the time being.

In very tense situations I tend to bite my nails. Bad habit...
-
I don't. LOL
-
For some reason I keep my thumbs tucked into my fists when I'm nervous. Dunno why.
-
I meditate and try not to take things personally for I realize it is my ego that has the problem ,not me.
-
I never really feel the tense situations like that. So I don't have problems. I am under a lot of pressure right now, but individual things do not get to me.
-
I chew on things like my nails...any part of my hand really. That's not exactly exclusive to tense situations, I always chew on stuff.
