  • It is valuable. But at the same time I don't do it. Even though I understand its importance, my mates are my first priority when i get home. (thats if i do get home)
  • It is very valuable, and I wouldn't learn without coming home, and struggling to do it myself. No, I do not believe we should do away with it.
  • Brain research has shown that the brain prunes any knowledge that we don't rehearse, so really we should be giving more drill and homework, not less. Unfortunately, it has become politically incorrect to ask kids to work. It is almost forbidden to have kids switch papers and grade them for each other, you might embarrass the little darlings who didn't do their work. Therefore, kids aren't rehearsing the skills they need anymore. They've become completely dependent on calculators. If you don't memorize addition facts and realize that addition is repeated counting, how do you come to understand that multiplication is repeated addition? And if you don't memorize your times tables, how do you come to understand that powers are repeated multiplication? This is one of the many reasons why I am homeschooling. You don't take on something this big for only one reason, but this is one of the major factors for me.
  • Home work is necessary to reinforce what has been taught in school but kids must not be overburdened. In subject like Maths the child will never be proficient if they do not practice practice and practice some more.Similarly, English Language . The other subjects should not have homework (by that I mean writing answers on chapters). The kids must just be asked to learn them up and they should be tested orally in class in the form or quizzes. Makes the subject interesting and lightens the load too.
