  • Always have formula on hand in case you can't breastfeed and until then try using a breast pump to get your milk flowing well.
  • Teas of fennel, aniseed or cumin. About 1 teaspoon per cup of boiled water :)
  • Fenugreek tea works really well. It was recommended by both of the nursing books I had, one was La Leche and I don't remember who did the other one. You can get it at healthfood stores and at Amish and Mennonite bulk food stores. It is also used for artificial maple flavoring, so it has a really pleasant flavor. It only took me a couple of cups of tea and I had more milk than little bit could handle. Some women need to drink it every day over a longer period of time.
  • Not sure but somebody who knows more about Indian recipes could say. It's important to let the baby have lots of access to the breast. The more they suck, the more milk should come down. It's also important for the mother to keep as healthy as possible.
