Why, when many a singer is trying to communicate his/her thoughts/feelings/pains/dreams/experiences/story etc., via a song, do they mess it up by uttering undecipherable vocals - or is it just that my hearing isn't top notch?

Could it be that in trying to sing from your heart about pain/sorrow/personal experience that it becomes difficult to enunciate well, therefore it becomes exactly that - undecipherable? A good blues guitarist can make his guitar "cry", perhaps a singer who is totally expressing pain/feelings does along the same lines? Just a thought.

LOL - I find this too sometimes. You wouldn't believe how many times I've misheard lyrics and thought a song was about something entirely different!

I wouldn't necessarily say it's messing it up though - that's their style I guess and if we don't like it we don't have to listen.
