It takes time. I have known my wife for about 30 years before we got married. By the time that we got married, we knew one another inside and out. Too many people jump into quicky marriages these days without really knowing each other. That's why the divorce statistics are so high in certain western countries.

If your lucky you can have a reasonably good knoledge of yourself - when it comes to knowing other humans it's more an example of educated guesswork then actual knoledge.
