  • It doesn't in my opinion. Freedom is the ultimate asset being a US Citizen.
  • If a man is irresponsible and not mature man can cause immense suffering for others.
  • From what we can observe, freedom dosen't exist anywhere in nature. There is very little example of freedom; yet all of the examples teach us to use the word differently that we do. Yes you can exist, possibly with no limitations; however since we are stuck here I feel using the word freedom so biasly and irresponsibly is the primary factor in most of todays social problems. People simply will not see a middle ground, on any level. You cannot be comletely free here as human beings, because you are taking that freedom from something else. There is only compromise. At this point, freedom only exists in imaginatio, and only the imagination is free.
  • In a philosophical context, freedom can be defined as the opposite of order. The order/freedom dichotomy paints two very different but equally scary worlds. In the world of absolute freedom, there are no laws. Anarchy, crime, decadence, ignorance, ...sodomy :) On the other side, the world of absolute order, society becomes sedated under a watchful authority. It conjures up images of smoky grey skies, distant footfalls of marching soldiers, and harsh corporal punishments for things like jaywalking. I believe the spirit of man should fall somewhere in the middle. He should not be too oppressed as to drain his soul away, nor should he be too free as to become bigotted and elitist. If you want to know how mans concept of freedom can harm us, I suggest reading Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World".
