So, having listened to an extraordinary amount of nineties soft rock of late, I have realized that there are many, many remakes of Disney movie songs by African-American artists. Why is this?

Disney feels guilty there is no Black Princess in their movie collection, so they sell their copywrite to let the singers do their songs? This is one long guess, it is not linked back to Disney in any way.

Disney reaches a huge audience, without regard to race. Why not cover the most popular things you can get rights to?
