Was Muhammad a sinner? See for yourselves from the Qur'an. Surah 47:19 "So know (O Muhammad) that, La illallah (none has the right to be worshipped by Alla), and ASK FORGIVENESS FOR YOUR SIN, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allah knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes)." Surah 48:1-2 "Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad) a manifest victory. THAT ALLAH MAY FORGIVE YOU YOUR SINS OF THE PAST AND THE FUTURE, and complete His Favour on you, and guide you on the Straight Path,..." Surah 40:55 makes claims of Muhammad's 'fault' and uses the same word as sin, so could be used as another example of Muhammad having been sinful. A Muslim scholar defines the word thus: "Crime; Fault; Offence; Sin; Any act having an evil result". It is the same word used in connection to the Polytheists in Noah’s time that refused to listen to the prophet, so they are destroyed (a clear indication of their sin). (Every passage above is copied from the Noble Quran, an Islamic authorized translation, and may be confirmed and www.Quranhome.com) Even the Hadiths show indications of Muhammad's sin. Narrated Abu Huraira: "I heard Allah’s Apostle saying. 'By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.'" This is from Bukhari (d. 870), the most reliable collector and editor of the Hadiths. Islam claims that Muhammad had to be sinless, because otherwise there would have been room for him to have corrupted the Word of God. This is the foundation for the Qur'an. If Muhammad was sinless, the Qur'an is True; but if Muhammad had sinned, then what he said was corrupted. So Islamic beliefs seem to be in contradiction, even at the most basic and important level.

Do all Muslims claim this? Shi'ites believe the prophets to be sinless as a matter of faith. All religions have disputes like this, over the interpretation of sacred texts.
-
the brother in his reply said that "but if Muhammad had sinned, then what he said was corrupted." Why exactly? As for Mohammed being a sinner, he did not sin as in a crime, he was once preaching Islam and a pagan man came ad started shouting and screaming to divert the attention to him instead of Mohammed so Mohammed frowned and that was his sin and God keeps reminding him of it in the Quran so he wont forget and always have high manners. hope that clears it up.

its weird how u asked the question and answered it at the same time. thats a cheap shot. you know we can do much worse to your bible if we want but we wont.
-
first of all, no , Muslims do not believe there prophets or the prophets i shall say since they believe in Moses and Jesus etc, were sinless. they believe they were rightouse people God fearing and loving people. But if they were sinless how could we take them as our role models. there sins are one or two maybe and are extra small, God forgave them of of course. as 4 mohammed his sin was that he was preaching islam and a man started shouting to distract the ppl from listenin t mohammed and he started waving his hands in the air etc so mohammed frowned and that was his sin. and its the same sin God reffers to in the Holly Quran to remind mohammed so that he will have higher manners and greater pacience etc. as for the frowning being a sin, to our human standards they arent but to God it was cause Mohammed was a prophet meaning he had to have high manners and try to achieve perfectionism so God kept on reminding him. its no big deal God forgave him for it and if im not mistaken the guy converted to Islam.

I'm not entirely sure that this question makes sense. First, what do you mean by "their" prophets? "Their" prophets are your prophets, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Adam etc. everyone you believe in they believe in. We all know that Moses sinned against God and Adam certainly doomed the rest of us by sinning against God, so I'm not sure why you think that the Muslim (and Christian) prophets are sinless. Secondly, please give your source for Islam claiming that the prophets sinless. I'm not saying that they do or don't, but you give many quotes claiming Muhammad to be a sinner, but none making the claim that he (or others)couldn't be.

OK, I've done a bit more research into this, and I can't find any claim in the Qu'ran or by the prophet (though I, of course, could be missing much, so please correct) that there was ever any "sinless" prophet besides the Prophet ISA (Jesus) and maybe Mary. In the Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 71: Narrated Said bin Al-Musaiyab: Abu Huraira said, "The Prophet said, 'No child is born but that, Satan touches it when it is born where upon it starts crying loudly because of being touched by Satan, except Mary and her Son." Abu Huraira then said, "Recite, it you wish: "And I seek Refuge with You (Allah) for her and her offspring from Satan, the outcast." (3.36) Even Muhammad claimed that the ony sinless one is Jesus. Isn't this what Christians believe too? Volume 6, Book 60, Number 3: Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "On the Day of Resurrection the Believers will assemble and say, 'Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'You are the father of all the people, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the angels to prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things; so please intercede for us with your Lord, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this (i.e. intercession for you).' Then Adam will remember his sin and feel ashamed thereof. He will say, 'Go to Noah, for he was the first Apostle, Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth.' They will go to him and Noah will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' He will remember his appeal to his Lord to do what he had no knowledge of, then he will feel ashamed thereof and will say, 'Go to the Khalil--r-Rahman (i.e. Abraham).' They will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. Go to Moses, the slave to whom Allah spoke (directly) and gave him the Torah .' So they will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' and he will mention (his) killing a person who was not a killer, and so he will feel ashamed thereof before his Lord, and he will say, 'Go to Jesus, Allah's Slave, His Apostle and Allah's Word and a Spirit coming from Him. Jesus will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, go to Muhammad the Slave of Allah whose past and future sins were forgiven by Allah.' So they will come to me and I will proceed till I will ask my Lord's Permission and I will be given permission. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in Prostration and He will let me remain in that state as long as He wishes and then I will be addressed....'" My interpretation of this is that clearly a number of Islamic prophets were sinners, many of them recalled specific sins they committed the only two who did not were Abraham and Jesus. You will notice in this passage that it does not imply that Muhammad is "sinless", he is simply a prophet who's sins have been forgiven. Also, there is a theory that the concept of "sinless" is different in Islam then it is in Christianity. Islam seems to regard sinlessnes more as blamelessness (i.e. the prophets had no evil intent when they sinned, they merely made honest mistakes) Christianity sees sinlessness more as being divine, which is probably why they began worshipping Jesus-for being sinless. Here is a website that goes through this point a little more. http://answeringislam.org/Gilchrist/Vol1/7b.html

Hi, In regards to your question what that means is that since they were humans, they did make mistakes, BUT all their sins were forgiven. That includes the last prophet..even when he was alive..his past and present mistakes were forgiven. Allah does whatever He chooses to do. The benefits of having Prophets who were also humans like us and made mistakes is that it allowed them to show us what to do to fix those mistakes, how to repent without needing a confession box..praying directly to Allah.
-
All God's prophets committed sins thats including Moses,Jesus & Mohammad (peace be upon all of them), after all they were all humans.
-
Islam makes no such claim. The prophets (PBUT) were human, and thus fall into error. However, in matters of religion -belief in God they made no mistakes. And, their sins were minor sins for which they repented and were forgiven. They are therefore the best of men.
-
Christianity says that there is only one who was/is sinless, and that is Jesus Christ (God indwelling humanity, and not a prophet).

Stop for a second and think about your own question for a moment. If you want to know why Islam says prophets are sinless and you say the quran says a prophet was sinning then obviously Islam did not claim what you asserted it did or else the quran would not have said the contrary. If you meant to say you wanted to know why muslims claim something alien to their book probably for the same reason that all other people of all religions do the same most especially Christians. The prophet Muhammad was the first to admit that he saught forgiveness for his sins seventy to hundred or so times daily in addition to normal prayers. The quran stated that Muhammad would be forgiven and because of him others would be forgiven. Others referring to some of those who came before his birth as well as some of those who came after his birth. Forget about Muhammad saws for a moment and focus on your own self and ask if you are a sinner or not and do you feel better than a pious muslim? or Buddhist or any good Samaritan? Maybe you do and maybe you are and I will not be the judge of that but if you believe you are better than Muhammad then hopefully you will become more influencial than he was/is and you will be loved and remembered in life and long after your death as he was/is for your qualities and contribution to the world and not only for wealth that you left to someone in a will. Otherwise, even if you do not believe in Islam, you would be wiser as were so many Christian, Jewish, Hindu and other Scholars centuries past to spend much time studying about Muhammad with an open mind and a humble heart. Note to the Christians usually you quote the Jesus pardonned a women accused of adultery and Jesus also did activities on the Sabbath. Is not that considered a sin according to the law and prophets at that time that Jesus himself claimed to follow/fulfill in The Gospel of mathew? Maybe you feel that he had permission to do what he did, so why would you not consider the same thing concerning the Prophet Muhammad who obeyed his lords commandments. About the women accused of adultery she was not stoned because of the accusing group present not being sinless enough to condem her according to Jesus standards. Yet most Christians never consider their own sin before condeming another person so is not that direct disobedience to Jesus when he said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Yet again many many Christians furher disobey Jesus when he said to the women go and sin no more but so far Christians are sinning more and more despite the advise of Jesus because they say they are saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost but meanwhile sinning as if it was the express way to paradise or means to make Jesus happy. I guess if Jesus intended for Christians to be super sinners he would have said no need to stone this lady she is saved and then he would have told her go and next time don't get caught. But sense it did not happen that way-lets examine our selves and try to see how worthy we are or are not in the sight of GOD. Ask what did you dislike the most about a visit to a muslim country and usually the answer would be lack of porno, lack of buse, not enough loose women, and if available you had to sneak out of fear of persecution and you thought to your self back home we have separation of Church and State so why don't they do that all over the world. Heyv don't persecute someone for piety rather why not congratulate them after all Jesus said that those persecuted after richeousness would inherit the Kingdom of Heaven (By he way Great movie Kingdom of Heaven). No offense I am a sinner my self, but I call a spade a spade so as Jesus advised shouldn't we remove the 2x4 from our eyes before we try to take the spec from the eye of our neighbor or else if we judge then we stand to be judged by the same- is that not what Jesus taught? Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

The Imam was probably trying to proselytise. An Imam is, in my personal opinion, not a very credible source for learning about Islam. Not all Imams are scholars. For the record, most Muslims who have read the Qur'an do not make any such claims. All humans have some flaws, even the prophets(pbuth). It is only that their sins were too minute in comparison to ours.
-
wrong in transation of this aia 2 , sura 48. mohammad (pbuh) is sin-free, THE GOD ALLAH said : ( verily in the messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the Last Day, and remembereth Allah much )
-
Where does Islam claim that their prophets are sinless? Your reference is.........?
-
