Well, my favorite milk is called "halfvolle melk", and I am not sure which one it is most like, although it tastes a lot like 2% to me, but with much more flavor. Milk is sold and processed differently than in the states. It is sold non-refrigerated, on the shelves like most items, and with a REALLY long expiration date, usually several months. I was curious as to how they were able to do this, and found an article online that was able to shed some light. Here's a small excerpt, and the link is at the end: The process that gives the milk a longer shelf life is called ultrahigh temperature (UHT) processing or treatment, in which milk is heated to 280 degrees Fahrenheit (138 degrees Celsius) for two to four seconds, killing any bacteria in it. Compare that to pasteurization, the standard preservation process. There are two types of pasteurization: “low temperature, long time,” in which milk is heated to 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for at least 30 minutes*, or the more common “high temperature, short time,” in which milk is heated to roughly 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) for at least 15 seconds. The different temperatures hint at why UHT-treated milk lasts longer: Pasteurization doesn’t kill all bacteria in the milk, just enough so that you don’t get a disease with your milk mustache. UHT, on the other hand, kills everything. Retailers typically give pasteurized milk an expiration date of four to six days. Ahead of that, however, was up to six days of processing and shipping, so total shelf life after pasteurization is probably up to two weeks. Milk that undergoes UHT doesn’t need to be refrigerated and can sit on the shelf for up to six months. Regular milk can undergo UHT, too. The process is used for the room-temperature Parmalat milk found outside the refrigerator case and for most milk sold in Europe. http://persianoad.wordpress.com/2008/06/08/why-does-organic-milk-last-so-much-longer-than-regular-milk/

Ultimately whatever my wife buys, which is usually 2% vitamin D if I remember correctly. But I prefer whole milk with vitamin D. I also like buttermilk.
-
for the 1 cup a day i drink i use 3%, its very healthy but not too much.
-
Skim milk now. We weened ourselves to 1% first and then changed to skim many years ago. Now regular milk tastes odd.
-
Good ole 2%.
-
We all drink soy milk. Dairy cows are kept in horrific conditions and I don't wish to support the dairy industry by buying cows milk.
-
I drink semi skimmed Goats milk as i have a dairy intolerence and i prefer the taste too The rest of the family have semi skimmed cows milk :)
-
I always drink whole milk with 4/5% fat content. Not pasteurized and standardized milk but boiled fresh milk. It is becuase it is available to me. If your Doctor advised you drink skimmed milk then you must follw the Doctor's advise. Milk with various levels of fat content is available, I am sure. In skimming only the fat content in the milk is removed and no harm is done to the cow itself. Have no fear on that count.

I don't drink milk, but buy 1% for cereal and for my son to drink. Humans are the only mammals that routinely drink milk after being weaned. My guess is that being the odd man out among 5400 species of mammals, the majority probably has it right.
-
Whatever is available but I personally buy 1 or skim
-
Skim, it is what I was brought up on. Whole milk tastes funny to me.
-
i prefer whole milk
-
I'm happy with skim milk. Once I got accustomed to it, I can't stand the taste of cream, and I don't care for whole milk anymore.
-
2% whole white milk
-
I drank 2% for years, but I switched to 1% several years ago and lost ten pounds by doing it. I mixed one and two percent for a while until I got used to the taste. You might try doing the same. Get a gallon of each and pour them together to make 1/2% until you get used to the taste.
-
2%,but I am trying to lose 35 more pounds,so I am switching to skim for a 6 month tryout!
-
2%. We need a little bit of fat.
-
Whole milk on cereal I do not however drink milk out of a cup and whole milk is only 3.5% fat compared to the 2% "low fat" milk. Whole is better for you
-
I was raised on whole milk...you got it out of the milk tank and put it in a home pasteurizer...When I started school I hated the milk there tasted watered down. When I got married all my wife drank was 2%,next thing you know I'll be on powdered milk!!!
-
I could have done without your analogy kiddo..you know AB has a lot of gals who might find that offensive. We drink 2%. Happy Monday! :)
-
