Sadly, yes... but not at his age. It really starts to make a difference in middle school. What I've found though is that as long as you keep up to date on fashion, and you find some accepting friends, you won't break the bank.

No really but its nice to have them looking sharp.

Tell you what, save the money you'd spend on ridiculously priced clothing, and spend it on a family holiday, or save it for you kids college/university fees, do anything but waste it on the latest must have 'fashion' just because it's what everybody bloody expects. The empty, shallow, disgusting superficiality of western society makes me sick to my f*cking stomach.

Clothes make no difference about him being "at the top". It's a waste of money at three. Most kids can't read and even if they can, they have no idea who the heck Polo is. My son always looks nice and I get his shirts from Wal-Mart for 2.50 and pants for 4.50. He just ruins them anyways. If your concerned about other kids and his ability to get "at the top" do what I did, choose a school with uniforms. That way everyone is equal.

Only for the very, very shallow. It seems to loom large during pre and teen years. I used to shop for jeans at Value Village, buy designer jeans, cut off the labels and sew them on new cheaper ones. Then I would re-donate he VV ones to the Salvation Army. My son never knew!! Now he does and, as an adult and a parent himself, really 'gets' what I did and why!

no. you dont need to get them those clothes now bcuz it wont make a difference. i didnt start wearing brand name stuff until like 6th grade and b4 that when i didnt wear name brand stuff i still had a bunch of friends....but those kinda clothes will help when ur older and people want to approach u more when u have cool clothes. but for ur kids age nobody is going to care what they wear

Not for a 3 year old. Enjoy buying cheap clothes while he's still too young to bitch.

Not when you are three but once you get up there towards fifth grade it makes a difference. Kids need to fit in with there peers.
