  • i have been getting checked every since my first period!
  • I been checking since my I started my period as far as mammos I think 35 not too sure.
  • You should start after puberty and get a mammogram once a year.
  • Start checking your breasts when you are 20 years or older. Mark your calendar to help you remember to do BSE on a regular schedule. One easy way to remember to do BSE is to do the exam on the same day of each month. Do your BSE one week after your monthly period. This is the time when your breasts may be the least swollen, lumpy, or tender. If you are pregnant or have gone through menopause (change of life), do a BSE on the same day of each month. Breast feeding women and women who have breast implants can do regular BSE's too. Talk to your caregiver and make your own personal decision about doing BSE. Mammograms have been shown to lower the risk of dying from breast cancer by 35% in women over the age of 50; studies suggest for women between 40 and 50 they may lower the risk of dying from breast cancer by 25–35%. Leading experts, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and the American College of Radiology now recommend annual mammograms for women over 40.
  • Its my part time job lol
  • Man. You keep dropping bad news on me. I'm going to check my gf, now!
  • I can't believe that happened to her at the age of 36. I have a friend with malignant breast cancer at age 39. We've got to really take care of ourselves. Check for lumps at least once/month, and get mammos starting age 40, especially if you can afford it.
  • Warning. This is not a serious answer. I offer it as humor. Perhaps not tasteful humor. Perhaps not everyone will find it funny. But then again, someone might just smile. So, here is the answer: Have your boyfriend/husband check for lumps on a daily basis (or more frequently if desired). If you don't have a boyfriend and you are young and reasonably attractive, I'll volunteer to do it free of charge.
  • Dependig on your fmaily history they recommend 40-50 years old. But again it all depends on your family history. If your mother had breast cancer then they recommend 5 years after she was first diagnosed. Always check monthly, this way you get to know the natural bumps and curves in youir breast and if something new develops you can go see your doctor.
