When I play DVDs on my PS2, the picture alternates from dark to light even though I have no VCR or DVD player hooked up, just the PS2 going directly to the TV. What could be wrong?

You are probably using an "RF adaptor" (The little black box with the single cord the goes into your TV. Most of these conflict with macrovision copy protection in the same way as a VCR does. Try another method to hook the PS2 to your tv...perhaps composite (red, white and yellow) cables, or perhaps S-video if your tv supports it. If your TV supports neither, give the Sony brand RF switch a try. According to their website, they guarantee theirs to work correctly as long as it is not going through a VCR. I personally have had some problems with these as well, but since it's a guarantee, you can return it for your money back if it doesn't work. You'd have nothing to lose. -Shaggy-
