  • I think that's unlikely. Normally when a child is removed from the home for parental neglect, they go into the foster care system unless there's a qualified adult relative or other guardian the court can place the child with. A 17-year old would have to be very convincing to talk a judge into this arrangement. Almost surely you'd need a lawyer to get that convincing. Now if you can somehow get the kid moved in with you without the authorities being involved, then it won't come up on the legal radar.
