I'm fine with it... It's a question and answer that is now immortalized in the annuls of Answerbag. It would always be nice if you heard whether the answer helped, but... You will hear from others if they liked your answer, either by points and/or comments. Sometimes those "anonymous" questions are VERY personal, and a regular ABer may not want everyone to know who is asking. Sometimes, they'd just prefer not have their username available all over Google, so remain anonymous. And, sometimes, they haven't figured out what and how to change their profile. (If I remember correctly, "display as anonymous" is checked as a default.)

I was going to say "We have no members by the name of 'anonomous'" but indeed... we have eight. Here lies Noah Webster. He tried.

What do you mean "...not been held accountable for?" All the information ANYONE provides here on AB is voluntary and NOT subject to any verification. Take me, for example. I give three bits of information: I'm a Chief Petty Officer, I'm retired from the Navy, and my birthdate is 1/1/71. I'll tell you right now that at least ONE item out of the three is false. But you really have NO proof that ANY of it is true. I do not give any personal information out because it is too easy in this day and age to gather too much personal information on someone else which could be used for harm or personal gain. And as for the 'Anonymous' aspect...well, sometimes you may wish to ask a question that is of a sensitive nature but you do not wish for others who DO know who you are to know that it's about YOU. So I really don't care about accountability. In fact, I'm just as happy if they strike up a good conversation as the next person.

I don't care who asks a question. If its a question I want to answer, I answer it. Just because an anonymous user asks it doesn't take anything away from the question.
