  • In traditional Hindu culture wives were fungible.
  • Strange that men do seem to have got that one tapped ! Don't fret , God knows it , make sure its not a mans tradition as I believe we are all to be equal in heavenly realms , but we are not there yet , maybe men need womens help more than we realise . ( yes I am a woman too and have a husband , and if it would help then fasting is an option , but I doubt that they would put that in for us ,they may fast for another cause if it has something in it for a reward ! God loves you whether you fast for your husband or not , you are loved in his sight for who you are , everyone has to do there own spiritual "work" .
  • Good question. If you have a doubt you should not have undertaken a fast for the husband. These observances are accepted religious traditions, for which we may not get logical answers. I am a Hindu.
  • You need to understand the concept of why the women fasts for her husband it is a act of selflessness by the hindu woman. She fasts because as a Hindu women God has given her the power to be able to convince the Gods to extend or give a long life to husband . Its not expected from you , its done because you can. In the Hindu mythology women have a lot more power, she is the laxmi, the chandi & saraswati, there are no men taking those places. So don't do it because you are a women do it because you are the only one who can.
  • question- this is interesting if I'm not wrong why do some wives get burned with their dead husband? Is it because she didn't fast enough times for him?
