Is it normal behavior for toddlers to smash their food? Mine eats and then when she is close to being finished, she smashes the food.

Sure as long as she eats it, maybe she's just being playful. Toddlers tend to like soft, squishy things for some reason, so give her Play-do or something but just watch her carefully so she doesn't eat it.
