  • Depending on what the medication is, it could be having an effect on your sleep. Is this a once a day medication? If it is, check with your doctor about whether it can betaken in the morning rather than in the evening. You shouldn't just go and change it yourself without consulting with your doctor. If this is the case, the leveling off of levels after taking the medcations might allow you to get to sleep quicker. Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welbutrin You might want to check this link. It has some great info on Welbutrin. Ask your doctor about alternatives. Welbutrin has similar properties to certain Amphetamines so I'm not surprised it messes with your sleep. If there is not a suitable alternative, maybe you can move up your evening dose by a few hours and it will have a chance to level off in your system before bed-time. Make sure you consult with the prescribing doctor before making any changes
  • I always find reading a book , preferably a romantic or funny novel or book always makes you a little tired and normally fall asleep while reading .
  • Have you ever tried Tylenol PM? It is just some Tylenol and a bit of Benadryl and wont interfere with you Wellbutrin.
  • Don't use your bed for anything but sleeping. You can train your body to recognize that when you hit the mattress and covers, it's there to catch some zz's and that's it. By watching tv on it, eating in it, whatever you distract your body from recognizing it's original function. That helped me reduce my sleep time by a half hour, I'm not sure I can help you with the other 1.5 hours.
  • Another little trick you can play on your body is taking a warm bath just before going to bed. When you get out, your body temperature will begin to cool mimicking the cooling that takes place when you go to sleep. Plus, try not to "try" to go to sleep. haha. It's true though, the harder you try, the harder it is. Play it cool & nonchalant & breathe deeply. & don't let your mind wander all over the place staying busy. Tell your brain like you would a child, "Lights out. Time for bed. No more talking. I don't want to hear a peep out of you!" Good Luck.
  • Make sure you get exercises during the day. Also, if you do a short workout about an hour before you try to go to bed it should help. And milk and turkey also (hey, you worked out, you can afford the calories *s*) They contain tryptophan which helps you sleep also. And stay away from the net at night, that keeps me up for hours past my bedtime. Sweet dreams.
