  • Straterra is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor meaning that it leaves more norepinephrine in your system to be used. Norepinephrine is stress hormone and makes people more alert and focused. Currently, there are two neurotransmitters associated with ADHD, they're norepinephrine and dopamine. Unfortunately, high levels of dopamine is associated with schizophrenia and would be a bad thing. Its major difference from other ADHD meds (such as Adderall) is that Straterra doesn't prevent the dopamine from being reabsorbed (meaning that you have regular levels of dopamine in your system).
