you should sit down and have a talk with her, either over dinner or in a casual setting, perhaps when you're both cuddling, hug her tight and ask her calmly the reasons behind all the hitting. tell her you can't help or improve matters if she doesn't want to communicate, at least you're putting yourself out there trying to work on the relationship. if she doesn't have a good excuse or hits you for little issues... then tell her that it's disrespectful to hit someone no matter the reason. if she gives you an attitude, try to end the relationship... if she hits you now imagine how it will be when you're married.. it sounds like she's beginning to be a bit destructive and its rather unhealthy for the both of you. furthermore, to have her slap you in public places shows the inconsideration behind her acts. it's humiliating, disrespectful, and just plain wrong. if it were the other way around and you were hitting your girl in public in the face, you would most definitely be in trouble with the law or at least people would view you in a negative light as an abusive boyfriend. she needs to realize this is not good behavior and that there are other ways to express her anger... for example.. instead of using her energy to slap you she can use it to verbally communicate with you instead.
