My friend who visited India says, people in India read American news then their own country news. Why?

India, has about 14 main languages, but many middle and upper-class Indians speak and read English. It is probably easier to read news reported in one language than it is to read it in 14.Also many Indians want to migrate to America.

Maybe they are thinking that they might "own" the USA some day!

Indians are the most well read people in the world and they can tell you more than an average American about America and hence your friend must have said that. We do read newspaper and keep tabs on all that is happening round the globe.The local news will fill up the paper and the international news is just a small page in the whole so it cannot be true that we read about America first.

Your friend is not correct. We Indians are more informed about news from our Country than America or Europe. There are more Language news papers which restrict to local news only. Of course some English media give negative news about USA to attract their readership.

ur friend might b wrong hmm i mean he is wrong i used to read a 2-3 newspaper daily i hardly read anything abt other country india is big country a lots of thing happened here everyday that is enough for newspaper
