  • I think you should start looking now, so you can find the most economical one possible, or to find one that is available.
  • Start looking now, then you will know the realistic range of rents for your area and can spot a good deal when you need to in 2-4 weeks. You will also see what kind of shape most apartments are in and will be able to tell if a potential home has been neglected or will require repair before you move in.
  • I think he has a good idea. He just wants to make sure you two have the money that is needed for the deposit and first months rent.
  • Lookin now is kinds pointless cause the apts will probably be taken by then. But I would figure out a price range and area u would most likley like to live.
  • ...So if you DO find the perfect place, and you can't put anything down on it, how will you feel when it slips through your fingers?
  • a lot of men tend to leave things till the last minute, much to our annoyance, i would start looking now :)
  • I think you could look, just dont make any commitments to anyone....you can see what area you like, what style you like, etc.
  • I would say look when you'll have the cash in a few days. That way, you won't jump on the first thing that comes your way, and ya might find a better deal.
  • As a Landlord, I would say, start looking now...ON LINE and/or in newspapers for the areas you are interested in renting in. However, wait until you are ready to put down a deposit before you PHYSICALLY begin looking at places. If you looked at my house, and really, really loved it and wanted it...you'd be out of luck, once you told me that you won't have the money at all for 2 to 4 weeks! Not that I wouldn't be willing to TAKE A DEPOSIT, pull my ads and stop showing the house, and also have you review and sign a Rental Agreement to take the house, but, if you can't put down the deposit to HOLD IT for the next few weeks...then I can't stop trying to rent it. I depend upon my rent received to pay most of the mortgage each month, so I need to know that you plan to follow through with renting the house! I can't put "oh we love it, yeah...we'll be moving in 3 or 4 weeks from now!" into my bank account and feel safe that I now have a Tenant. Of course you can still go look at places to get a feel for what's out there...(what you can get for the amount of money you have to spend and in what areas of town), however...remember two things...you'll be spending your time and gas to run around, when you are not yet prepared financially to pony up the funds...AND you are also causing someone else to spend THEIR TIME and GAS running about to meet you there..not the most kind thing to do in these times.
