  • I did. They seemed to help. The side effects were nasty, though.
  • Absolutely! The right medication will make a world of difference.
  • I was severely depressed for a long time (mainly caused by domestic issues not of my making, but that's a whole other story), but still wouldn't take the prescription drugs. I'm not a believer in chemical-based drugs, as sometimes the side-effects are worse than what they are trying to treat. I did take St John's Wort, although I'm not sure whether it helped or not. What did help was group and personal therapy at a local hospital, where the staff were great. However, if I was so badly depressed and nothing else worked, I would consider taking these drugs but only as a last recourse.
  • Absolutely! They have helped many people.
  • They do help, but it's not something you want to do for the rest of your life. There are good reasons for depression, whilst drugs will ease the symptoms you should really discover and confront the issues behind your depression. Psychology is a much healthier approach than psychiatry.
  • i did and they didn't help for some reason so i stopped taking them and i wont ever take them again.
  • Yes, I did and they really helped.. Everyone needs a crutch now and then...compare it to a broken leg...a crutch for a while works. If you are depressed get help...you do not have to feel that way...A doctor can and will help you. I still take a very minimal dose for chronic anxiety syndrome...and it is great ...I have never felt better in my life...Give it a try. What have you got to lose?
  • Nope, I don't like to take any kind of drug. The best cure for depression, anyway, is time, and it's supply is unlimited.
  • I just answered one of your other questions and saw this. I want to find out more - is there any reason particular reason why you feel this way?
  • if youre sucidial homicidal or just plain violent pleaaaaaaae take your meds ... time sure will help if youre in a minor crunch depressive state and a little wimpy anyway you a be alright .....I guess! but if you was like some people with a big ass chip on your shoulder baseball bats in ,my oops, thier......... cars, knives under my front seats cans of mace in purses in office drawers.. looking for a fight... or areason to die yourself.....makeing plans to sucicide by cop yourself and participated in over one hunderd fights and serious altercations. then take the f..ing Zoloft noW...........bliotch!
  • I am on antidepressants. I have been for around 20 years now. I am not ashamed of having to take them but very much hate the view of insurance companies and condescending view from people who have never suffered from it. I use to be one of the uninformed people who thought...get up off your ass and stop feeling sorry for yourself....I did some background checking of my family and have found that as far as three generations ago that it seems to have been in the family....it has nothing to do with the weakness of the mind or soul....but a physical disease of my body
  • Sure, I am on anti-depressants for a muscle condition. Maybe I ma getting a "two-fer" by treating depression cause I just don't let too much get under my skin anymore.
