Does anyone else find it slightly ironic that Gimli calls Legolas 'lad' in LOTR even though Legolas would have been thousands of years older than Gimli?

Somewhat... but one must also take into consideration that Legolas was actually a fairly YOUNG Elf, and Gimli a grown man in Dwarves' reckoning. ^_^ KIND of how I know my dog sees me as a "silly kid" sometimes, when I'm ten years older than he is. If Legolas was 21 in "elf" years, Gimli was 12 in "elf" years, but in his 50s or so in "Dwarf" years. Did that make ANY sense at all? It's early here. LOL!
