Ask him to meet with you to discuss your “career development”. Start out by thanking him for hiring you and let him know that you are happy to be there. Give specific examples as to why you like it there, such as a challenging environment with room for advancement, or the people are nice. Give him a list of your accomplishments from the eight months of your employment. Close by saying something like “based on what we have discussed, I feel that the salary increase we discussed at the time of my hire is justified.” Then ask him; “What are your thoughts”. Don’t be afraid to embellish your accomplishments a little but don’t overdo it because if you’re not careful it could come off as bs. Be sure to rehearse what you plan to say to him prior to the meeting so you sound prepared. Good luck.

Send him an email as a reminder. maybe he has forgotten and just needs a knudge. Its his promise and your monetary loss. Get to typing...........

$ 24 dollars an hour is a lot of money. But, he said six months, so remind him of what he said. Some jerks who are bosses will play games like this deliberately, just to see how you will handle the situation. Don't let him get away with it.

I agree with newyorkny. To embellish or maybe emphasize, make an itemized list of the things that you do that make you worth more than you are getting paid for. If you can prove logically to your boss why you are worth more there is no logical way he can refute. DON'T THREATEN!! If you say something like "I could work at [this place] for more," he might simply say, "Okay, do it!" Be confident! If you think you are worth it, you probably are. Especially if you can be logical and patient enough to post on Answerbag and wait for answers!
