On an SCR it says: 30V 0.8A What does it mean?

The SCR will become extremely unhappy and commit suicide when a circuit that it's in will subject it to more than 30 volts Peak Inverse Voltage, or will try to pass more than 0.8 amperes of current through it. To stay safe, take a basic electronics class--many offered @ High School Adult Education. Here-- http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/circuits.htm You may find a project that will turn that puppy on.

the 30V 0.8A is the maximum rating that the Silicon-Controlled Rectifier can handle before internal breakdown occurs.
