  • of course not
  • it depends who created it. with God anything is reasonable
  • its possible that everything in this universe and others was too i suppose, if couted in god days and not human days
  • Yes and no, it's possible that God could do pretty much anything he pleases in any time frame he wishes.. instantaneously if so desired.. in which case, with his infinite capacity for wisdom and ability, why exactly did it take him six days? Of course if you had any sense of reasoning you'd see that like much of the Bible, the creation myth is exactly that.. myth. God created everything, evolution is fact, God created evolution, the earth is millions of years old. Religion is thousands of years old, coinciding with the evolution of man. You do the math.
  • No, and I don't believe that God expects me to believe it as a condition for my salvation.
  • Think of it this way You as a person were created by something that lasts (usually) much less than an hour since something as complex as you and I can be made in as few as a couple of minutes it is possible!
  • I does not have to be resonable, everything is possible with god because only god could create everything in 6 days.
  • Why would God create "Earth" with its puny humans and creatures and plants in six days and not tell us a damn thing about the zillions, and zillions, and zillions of other planets, solar systems, galaxies, etc. that abound throughout this ENDLESS universe? Did he create all of them at the same time? In six days? Sorry guys, but the concept of a "Creator" is so absurd that I find it hard to believe that anyone with half a brain can believe in it.
  • No, it's not reasonable, but people will still believe it. They believe it for the same reason anyone believes in something that is unreasonable to believe: Because they WANT to believe it to be true. A silly little detail like whether or not it actually IS true doesn't seem to concern them.
  • Depends upon how you figure time. Is it possible that the term "day" was figurative instead of actual? Sure it is. Now you have an entirely different frame of time with which to consider the matter. Since neither of us can say for certainty whether it was six 24-hour days, or six 240-hour days, then we have to allow for the possibility that it happened as written. Creations are special events that by their very nature cannot be measured. It may take you only an hour to write a report, or a song, but how long did it stay in your mind while you were creating it? Hard to really measure, isn't it?
  • If you look closely at the biblical text. You will see that two things existed before God begins his six days of creation. The formless and void earth and water. Then God puts some life there. He says it is good. It is.
  • We don't know how long a *day* was back then but since I do believe in God I believe he created everything in HIS own time frame.
  • I don't care how long it took or in who's time frame. I believe. I believe. What's the downside to that????
  • Not at all. Science has proven that earth first formed about 4.5 Billion Years ago. About 1.1 Billion years later, the earth was hit by another large object and the mood resulted from that. About 3.5 Billion years along life began. And at about 2 Billion years that life was wiped out by the earth being hit by a comet. 500 Milion years later life again took hold, first micro organisms, then insects, plants, the giant lizards and mammals. Till you get to about 2 Million years ago when men evolved from the primates. About 80,000 years ago Neanderthal died out and we Cro Magnon descendants endured. The universe is at least 12 Billion and possibly 22 Billion years old.
  • Not from a purely scientific point of view, no. It is now too well established that the earth is very, very old, the sun was here before it, life developed over some 3.5 billion years and so on. Of course, it is possible to say god created the place with the 'appearance' of all this age. It leads to various questions about what sort of god would be so deceptive but you can still say it. That would mean, though, that we could legitimately say the earth and all that is in it was created last Thursday - including our memories and so on - and anyone believing otherwise has been fooled by the evidence...
  • Only if it is logical that their is an all-powerful God. If so, than of course.
  • As reasonable as it to believe in the 12 days of Christmas
  • Well, who's 'defining' time? ;-)
  • I don't believe that the days expressed in the bible are the same as the 24 hour periods of time that we recognize as a day today. And I surely don't believe in evolution. I mean think about it, it says in the bible that God created man. It didn't say that he created monkeys that later would evolve into man. Come on people, if monkeys evolved into men, why haven't we seen any monkeys turning into men today. Science is just a well thought out educated opinion, go to church.
  • If you are illogical or drunk maybe.
  • is it reasonable that two ricks collided and brought together a planet..on that planet...LIFE?? really think about it. Bringing forth then, the human mind and ..knowledge?? How perfectly a human body works together. how a human body can see, hear, taste, touch, and smell?? Now there can be a more "scientific" or seemingly was to phrase that it was created in form the two rocks, but it doesn't make sense...because there is also a whole universe out there...there are PEOPLE here. ...There is God ..everywhere.
  • You have to understand that there are 3 ages. And that a day with the lord is 1000 yrs, God created the heavens and earth in the 1st age. The bible does not say the earth is 6000 yrs old.
  • NOPE. It's sort of..symbolic I guess?
  • Yes, but not 6 days of 24 hours. Each day may have been milennia long!
  • Yes, to bronze-age shepherds.
  • Yes, I think it is reasonable because it was recorded for us in God's Word.
  • The message made by creationist is that the heavens and the earth were made in 6, 24 hour days.We need to keep in mind this thought. The opening words of Genesis, “in the beginning,” reach back billions of years into the past. The events of the six creative “days,” or time periods of special creative works, are described as they would have appeared to a human observer had he been present on the earth. Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earth for human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. All of this is said to have been done within a period of six “days.” However, the Hebrew word translated “day” has a variety of meanings, including ‘a long time; the time covering an extraordinary event.’ (Old Testament Word Studies, Grand Rapids, Mich.; 1978, W. Wilson, p. 109) The term used allows for the thought that each “day” could have been thousands of years in length. From this we can see that the Bible's account of creation does agree with true scientific data.
  • Given an all-powerful God Who - by definition - can do anything He wants, however He wants, whenever He wants, should He only choose to do so, then it is certainly not unreasonable to conclude that God could have created the Earth (and the Heavens) in 6 days if He chose too ... and could even have made it look like it had taken several billion years if He so chose to do that too. At this point, it ceases to be a question for scientists and becomes a question exclusively for theologians, because now the question is: "Does that sound like something God would choose to do, and what does it tell us about Him if He did do it that way?" I think most conservative theologians, and all liberal/modernist ones, would say, "No, it doesn't sound like something God would do. Assuming our sciences are advanced enough that we may be reasonably certain that the universe and the Earth are billions of years old, and that the biosphere on Earth took most of the planet's history to develop, then that is evidently the way God did it. Moreover, it's perverse to suppose God would deliberately make creation look the way it does in order to deceive people who were earnestly and honestly seeking only for the truth about How God's creation works."
  • For me personally, it's very reasonable.
  • Yes, I believe in God who is all powerful. Anything is possible with him.
  • Not if you mean 24 hour days.
  • It is not reasonable to believe everthing on the earth was created in 6 twenty-four hour days and that is not what the Bible reaaly says. Scientific studies show us that the earth has end products of radioactive decay in rock formations that are billions of years old Genesis 1:3-31 tells how God prepared the already existing earth for human habitation. It says that this was done during a period of six days, but it does not say that these were 24-hour days. It is not unusual for a person to refer to his “grandfather’s day,” meaning that one’s entire lifetime. So, too, the Bible often uses the term “day” to describe an extended period of time. (Compare 2 Peter 3:8.) Thus the ‘days’ of Genesis chapter 1 could reasonably be thousands of years long. Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earth for human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. All of this is said to have been done within a period of six “days.” However, the Hebrew word translated “day” has a variety of meanings, including ‘a long time; the time covering an extraordinary event.’ The term used allows for the thought that each “day” could have been thousands of years in length.
  • No! I created it all the day before yesterday. Any memory you have of anything before that is a fake memory I implanted in your brain, just after I finished burying the dinosaur bones and artificially eroding the coastline.
