Shoplifting laws differ greatly from nation to nation and from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. You need to indicate where the crime took place to get a clear answer. Answerbag is worldwide and there are people asking and answering questions all over the planet...we simply don't know where you are.

jail time or community service and don't do it again. But I have a feeling you will be back in jail.

It depends where you are. Well, one thing, you will have to pay. They might have to make you go to this one day school thingy to not shoplift any more. Dude...I'm not playing with you. Don't EVER steal anything. I've had friends in the past that would do that. It's not even cool. One thing, is that you're not gonna stop once you start, and that is sad! Especially when you steal games, it just shows how addicted you are to playing them. It makes you look really low. Stop yourself before it becomes a habit you can't control! -Exodus 20:15 "You shall not steal." -Ephesians 4:28 "He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. "

Community service, pay a fine, informal probation.

Too lazy to go get a job and actually earn and deserve what you have? Someone has to pay for it if you don't. I assume that rather than being to selfish to care about that you just didn't think it all the way through before doing it? Ca'mon. Don't ruin your life. Stuff like this on your record and no-one will hire you or trust you. It can haunt you the rest of your life.

You will always be a thief for the rest of your life. I hope it was Wal*Mart and you aren't ever allowed back in to the biggest and best chain of stores in the world.
