The GRE (or Graduate Record Examinations) is administered by Educational Testing Services. The exam is used for admissions to graduate school programs, such as psychology, education, physics, etc. It consists of three parts: verbal, math and essay. GMAT (pronounced G-mat) is abbreviated for Graduate Management Admission Test. GMAC is the test writer of GMAT.
    Test Format GRE:
Verbal Section: Sentence Completion, Reading comprehension, Analogy, Antonym.
Math Section: Problem Solving, Quantitative Comparison.
Essay Section: Analysis of Argument, Analysis of Issue.
    Score Valid for: 5 Years.
    Subject Test: Yes
    Test Format GMAT:
Verbal Section: Sentence Completion, Reading comprehension, Critical Reasoning.
Math Section: Problem Solving, Data Sufficiency.
Essay Section: Analysis of Argument, Analysis of Issue.
    Score Valid for: 5 Years.
    Subject Test: No
And i would also advice you that If you are going to do an MBA, you must take GMAT. Almost all business schools require GMAT scores. Non-business graduate schools tend to require the GRE exam (and if applicable one of the GRE subject tests). For doctoral studies in business field, either GRE or GMAT is acceptable.

the gmat is for business school, and the gre is for most other grad programs. the tests are in the same Computer adaptive format, and the math is similar, but the biggest differences are in the verbal sections.

here is a resource that explains which test you should take, http://www.ehow.com/how_4614757_choose-between-gre-gmat.html

and here is one if you need some extra math help on the GMAT, http://gmatgremath.blogspot.com

    good luck studying.
